Lighthouse Financial Management, LLC is an independent, "fee-only" financial planning firm located in Westerly, Rhode Island.
As a fiduciary, we are committed to placing your interest above ours as we guide you through the uncertainties in your financial life. At Lighthouse, we focus on providing sensible long-term financial advice. We do not sell any products or earn commissions.
We service families, businesses, working professionals, and retirees in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and across the country. Our typical clients have busy lives and want to delegate their retirement planning and investment management to a trusted advisor.
Lighthouse is unique in that we combine comprehensive tax services at no extra cost, along with our financial planning and investment advisory services.
Our financial planning firm began in the early 1980s as an expansion of a Stephen Poplaski, CPA, an accounting firm. At that time, our firm offered traditional tax and advisory services to individuals and small businesses. What Steve enjoyed most was helping business owners improve profitability, streamline operations, and assisting with transitions businesses to new owners.
Often the owners of companies would ask Steve for help with personal finances. To accommodate his clients, Steve started down the path of gaining more knowledge in the area of personal finance, leading to earning a CFP designation and graduate school, ultimately obtaining a PhD in Personal Finance. His doctorate focused on behavioral finance and financial decision making.
Our current company, Lighthouse Financial Management, LLC, was formed in 2002, where Steve continues advising small businesses and providing tax services for our financial planning clients. Our complete team now includes several CFP practitioners and an Enrolled Agent.
Many financial decisions, such as saving for retirement, choosing investments, or making withdrawals from retirement accounts, have tax consequences.
We strongly believe in the value of providing financial planning in conjunction with tax planning. Therefore, we include the preparation of individual federal and state income tax returns at no additional charge for clients who have advisory assets over $500,000.
As a fee-only fiduciary, we are compensated solely by our clients and do not receive any compensation that is contingent on the purchase or sale of a financial product. Our sensible fee schedule, aligned with our commitment to bringing value to our clients, is based on the assets we manage for you. For a complete description of our fees, please refer to our ADV Part 2A (Brochure) and ADV Part 2B (Brochure Supplement).
Every client relationship is serviced by a team that includes financial planning, investments, and tax services.
